Burrowing Owls at Zanjero Park, Gilbert AZ

IMG_4264-2IMG_4264-2 Whether it's their mystical appeal, their big eyes or that their head turns all the way around (yes, I know, it really doesn't), I love owls. There used to be a pair of owls along the canal I ran and one day they were gone. Years later I learned about Wild at Heart, and organization that builds burrows and relocates displaced burrowing owls. One of their projects is in Zanjero Park, Gilbert AZ (Lindsey/Santan 202) where many burrowing owls now live including young owls with their ruffled baby feathers.

There were three young owls that kept me entertained. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the pictures that I was able to see the one owl moved a piece of wood into it's burrow.
