Tonto Natural Bridge

In the heat of the summer an excellent retreat is the Tonto Natural Bridge north of Payson off Hwy 87.  Considered to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world, the top of the bridge is growing a couple inches each year.  There are a couple of trails that lead down to the bridge and while none of the hikes are terribly hard for a regular hiker, you must have good shoes because under the bridge is wet (it's raining in there in places), the rocks are slippery and uneven.  You also need patience if you went during a busy weekend because everyone from Phoenix brings their family (wearing flip-flops) to see the bridge.
